Is it necessary to have a summer baby sleeping bag?
It is recommended not to let a baby sleep naked. Having a summer baby sleeping bag makes your little koko feel more secure in this light sleeping bag and also covers him for the morning chill. A summer sleeping bag is therefore essential. Ideally, you should choose a 0.5 TOG summer sleeping bag. The TOG of a sleeping bag is the heat index of the sleeping bag. And as far as your summer sleeping bag is concerned, it will obviously not be quilted...
How to choose a 0-6 month summer sleeping bag?
Are you expecting a summer baby? You will need a summer baby sleeping bag... and a winter one.
Be aware that your little koko's thermoregulation system will not be fully operational immediately. It needs time to adapt. Imagine... he has been in a 37° environment for 9 months and he drops to about 20 degrees. So even in the summer, you will need to cover your baby well when he is born.
Plan on several layers to dress him at birth (think of the old onion technique). And remember that he needs one more layer than an adult.
As for your newborn summer sleeping bag, it will have to be rather thick for your stay in the maternity ward (we advise you to opt for a TOG of 2.5). However, when you get home, your little koko's thermoregulation system will be more mature and you will need a light sleeping bag (ideally a 0.5 TOG summer sleeping bag).
The Kokùn Lab newborn sleeping bag is perfectly designed for summer babies. Indeed, you put the removable liners at the maternity hospital (you have your TOG 2,5) and you remove the liners as soon as you get home (you get your 0,5 tog summer sleeping bag). And potentially you put the liners back in when September starts to cool down. No need to buy 2 different sleeping bags!

Summer sleeping bag 36 months ? The big kokos also have the right to a lightweight sleeping bag!
It's not easy to find a large summer sleeping bag in the shops! However, for the reasons mentioned above, it is a must-have. Also keep in mind that the sleeping bag is recommended by early childhood professionals until your baby is 2 years old. This is to avoid the risk of suffocation and sudden infant death syndrome.
So yes, you need a sleeping bag for 36 months or 24 months. At Kokùn Lab, we offer an upgradeable sleeping bag from 6 to 36 months, so you are safe until the change to the duvet. And thanks to its removable linings, our sleeping bag can be used in both summer and winter!

Which fabric to choose for a summer sleeping bag?
As the summer baby sleeping bag is in direct contact with your little koko's skin, we recommend a natural, soft and breathable material. Why do you want this? Simply to avoid baby sweating when the thermometer rises. Cotton is therefore one of the ideal materials for hot summer nights...
If possible, choose a material that is organically grown or at least certified Oeko-Tex® standard 100, which ensures that the fabric contains no substances that are harmful to your baby's health.
At the Lab, we like percale for the summer sleeping bag. It's as if your little koko just had a soft percale sheet to sleep on, just like you...
