October to April is the season for colds and runny noses... 😓 And every parent experiences the effectiveness of the famous "saline" on a daily basis... So how would you like to have the simplistic recipe for this winter potion?

2 ingredients and that's it!

• 4,5g of sea salt
• 50cl of water

The zero waste and economic recipe:

• Sterilise the equipment well in boiling water, especially the storage bottle
• Boil the water in a pan and add the salt
• Let it boil for 10 minutes
• Fill the sterilised bottle
• Wait for the solution to cool before using it

This homemade saline can be stored for up to 5 days at room temperature and protected from light.

Some precautions to take:

• Do not use this homemade saline solution in the eyes
• No need to mix the solution before use. It is normal for a deposit to form at the bottom. Do not use the bottom of the bottle with this deposit.
• Do not use the saline solution if it changes colour
• Always consult a doctor in case of fever or worsening of symptoms

How to wash baby's nose?

It's not always easy to give nose washes to your little koko... here is the official method:

1. Using a syringe with a silicone tip, draw saline from the bottle
2. Lay the baby on his back and turn his head to the side. Hold his head firmly with your hand (without compressing it of course). Close the baby's mouth, so that the serum and secretions do not flow into the mouth and come out through the other nostril.
3. Using the syringe, spray the saline solution into the upper nostril.
4. Press gently on the upper nostril and wait 3 seconds. The solution should come out of the lower nostril causing nasal secretions.
5. Wipe the nose of this brave little koko!
6. Repeat the operation for the other nostril
7. Clean the silicone tip of the syringe well with soap and warm water for the next use.

If your little koko swallows a little saline, don't worry. It's just water and salt 😉
